Cate Blanchett will chair the Venice Film Festival that will be held on September 2-12.
Venice Film Festival Director Alberto Barbera announced that Cate Blanchett will be the president of the jury of the festival this year.
Blanchett will be at the head of the jury evaluating the films of the 77th Venice Film Festival and will choose who will receive the Golden Lion awards.
Cate Blanchett expressed her thoughts about the festival with the following words: “Every year I look expectantly to the selection at Venice and every year it is surprising and distinct. Venice is one of the most atmospheric film festivals in the world – a celebration of the provocative and inspirational medium that is cinema in all its forms. It is a privilege and a pleasure to be this year’s jury president.”
Lucrecia Martel, Argentinian director of "Zama", chaired the Venice Film Festival last year. Also, the Joker, which has been nominated for the Academy this year, won the Best Film award.
